Yesterday,  I was at Sagana State Lodge in Mathira, Nyeri County for a regional consultative meeting convened by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Representatives from several interest groups took to the podium to address the over 7,000 delegates drawn from the Mt Kenya political bloc. 

The Kenya Universities Students' Organization President Antony Manyara rose to represent the youth after the beauty-with-brains, Ms Janet Ruthuku. 

What angered me is how Mr Manyara, with all his influence among the youth, wasted our time as he attacked the lords and the purveyors of the wheelbarrow-nomics narrative. Nkt! 

In fact, his emtire speech in ki-Meru was all directed towards attacking the DP Dr Ruto camp. What if he used his time well and told fellow university students and the general youth population what the BBI document had in store for them? How will university students know of the 4-year grace period for HELB loans, establishment of Youth Commission through the amendment of Article 237A of CoK and the provision of 2 special seats (man and woman) at the National Assembly if the BBI passes if all the youth leaders are doing is to attack the DP and his people?

He reminded me another university students' leader Ms Ann Mvurya who wasted another once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at Bomas of Kenya in November 2019. She went for non issues instead of placing demands on  touching the youths to be factored in before they are asked to support and pass the document.
