The County Government of Kakamega will support flood victims to rebuild their houses.
Governor Wycliffe Oparanya revealed that the victims will be helped to resettle and resume their daily activities after overcoming the floods.
"We will support all the families that have been affected by the floods to rebuild their houses to lead normal life as before. Some of them will be moved from near river banks to safer places to avoid such disasters in future. At least 1,486 people have been affected by the floods," said Oparanya.
He was speaking at Mushiangubo Primary School in Khwisero Sub County where he visited and supported 16 families that were affected by floods when River Yala burst its banks destroying their houses.
The victims received blankets, mattresses, mosquito nets and they will also get money through the cash transfer system.
